Jonas
A partially or fully transparent image is an image that has one or more pixels that inherit the color of whatever background/image they are placed over. Like the images here:http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/Buttons/MenuYou can see they take on the yellow, blue, white and gray background through the bricks or whatever... A very cool effect. :)a .png file is an image file, like a cross between gif and jpg. It can become transparent like a gif, but like jpg can not be animated. Chocolate570
IE can not handle .png transparency in IE 6.x, so it is suggested that you use .gif images if you are creating transparent buttons/logos/etc.

Chocolate570
I have more complicated graphics software, so they make transparent images. I'm not sure if paint can do this. Here is what I know:1. Paint can't make transparent images.2. When you're saving the picture, replace the existing file extension with .pngHappy holidays!~Chocolate570

It is called GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) you can get it here....http://www.gimp.org/I believe most true graphic specialist/photographers, etc still use Photoshop, but GIMP can do just about everything the regular user would ever need to do, including make transparent images. Chocolate570
What a coincidence, that's the software I use too. I love it. People say it doesn't have all the functions photoshop has, but in fact, the GIMP has everything photoshop has, but in longer steps. Defintley worth how much you pay for it. Jonas
While we're on the subject of images, does anyone know a good program to make animated gifs? Can you do this with Photoshop CS?
Skemcin
While we're on the subject of images, does anyone know a good program to make animated gifs? Can you do this with Photoshop CS? When you install any version of Photoshop (including CS) it also installs Adobe Image Ready - that can be used to create animated gifs.Have you psd file open and in the file menu use Jump To and it will open Image Ready with your PSD file loaded. Then add new frames, tween, optimize for the web, etc. . .
