dev
Out of curiosity i,v landed here for an answer. A website like yahoo, google pages are so dynamic that they even do not need web file extension. Just a name of a file and a bunch a strings. I was just inquiring and i found that a file can also be executed to webserver without any extension which can run javascripts without any hastle. I would like to know what other scripts are supported apart of java and also a little bit description of yahoo, google web pages.I am of IIS background and litterary have no idea about other webservers. It would helpful if any one can describe a bit.
Ingolme
You can configure your server to read files with no extension as PHP files or any other kind of files.

Synook
You could use the Apache mod_rewrite module to "rewrite" URLs written without extensions to have the .php extension.
