ton
In order to get properly listed in the appropriate language by search engines, I understand that declaring language is important. On my site www.tonvanhattum.com.br I have pages that are in two languages. Portuguese and English. As a standard I use a left and a right column respectively. Can I, in an external style sheet, define that a certain element is always in a certain language so I don’t have to repeat it in the HTML code every time I place a left column containing Portuguese text.something like this:colleft{lang="port-BR";xml:lang="port-BR";/* rest of the markup definitions*/}colright{lang="en";xml:lang="en";/* rest of the markup definitions*/}Is this or something similar possible. Synook
No. CSS is used for presentation, and semantic information has to go in the HTML. Almost all search engine robots don't parse CSS anyway (why would they need to?)
