how do i get this stuff aligned?

thats my code... now the widget 1 is showing up at the top of the screen to the left... then the maincontainer and navbar ar showing up after the widget1, and to the right... from what i know, they should be beside each other, but its not working... help please? (in ie, i got the 2 items to be side by side, but firefox it still wont work)
