How to split column by XSLT

For example, My data source have a lot of tags history. Now I show history data in one column and 20 row by calling xsl: for-each loop and xsl: value of in <tr></tr>. But I want it show in two columns and 10 row. The number of tags history are between 0 and 20. It is possible to do it?
