I just bought a logitech quickcam communicate MP S 5500 - webcam .. just wondering if 'any' webcam can broadcast on a website.. i heard.also i read about a few different methods of putting your webcam on a website, they say the 'in house server' method was the best way to do it.. any thoughts on that?

All you really need is to make sure the software you got with the webcam can FTP an image to a web server. Then, pick a file name and have the webcam overwrite it with a certain interval - say 2 minutes.Of course, you'll need to code a page that pulls the image. Here is a site I built years ago for an area I once lived:http://www.deepcreekcam.com/If you want to stream video, you'll need a more advanced set up than you have now - if it is goingt o be worth anything.

I actually got the webcam to stream media through windows media encoder to my website. it has a really good feed. its a 50$ cam its not the cheapest one they had.but the only problem is that it only works on internet explorer.. is there any way to cross browser stream besides flash?or is flash the easiest way?
