shadowayex
My workspace wants me to start working on a website for them. My boss has asked me what software I need and everything. I'm working on a Mac and I have honestly never developed on a Mac before. So, what's good?
justsomeguy
Hmm.. Mac software I've used....Oregon Trail? In all seriousness, how about using software you're already familiar with?
shadowayex
The software I use isn't compatible with Mac. But it's ok, my work got Dreamweaver and a training video so I'm going to learn to use that and whatnot.
jeffman
Do yourself a favor. Use DW primarily as a source editor. The auto formatting, colors, and text-completion are worth the price. But don't let it write scripts or CSS for you. Don't trust anything you see in the visual editor. The visual editor can be a convenient way to add a lot of text, and also if you want to drag elements into your document. But expect to clean all that up in the source editor. shadowayex
Yeah, I was thinking about getting something for just script editing. DO you know of anything good? We haven't bought Dreamweaver, I'm just sing a trial until I figure out what to use.
jeffman
A lot of old-time Mac users have sworn by BBEdit for years. Haven't used it, myself.
Synook
Use emacs! lolI actually like the Mac version of DW better [than the one for Windows] - the interface isn't as cluttered. As long as you don't touch the Design View button (and have plenty of RAM) it is good.
