chibineku
I tried to this, but to no avail: I was messing with a file and went to hit CTRL+S to save it, only I absent mindedly hit CTRL+V and for some reason the current time and date popped up, without me ever having knowingly copied it to clipboard. So, if anyone has any ideas, then this thread can be deleted as soon as I've read the answer!

Synook
F5 in Notepad will insert the current date/time - what program were you using? I don't think there is a system-wide shortcut.
