mmcspadden
First the good, the colors are a good match as far as I am concerned. Your html passes validation. You might add some character encoding (I like using the meta tag method such as <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8">), but the character coding is not an all important point. Also your site seems to resize alright between 1280x1024 and 800x600. Now the critiques, several of your headings are near unreadable. If you want people to read your stuff, putting black on dark purple, not a good idea. Secondly your CSS aught to pass validation. Check out http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validat...use.webs.com%2FAnd lastly if you are making a website to teach yourself web developement you are off to a good start. If you are making one to actually get people visiting it, then you need to actually come up with a topic now and start working towards that. Trying to make a website for no reason results in either no website, or a bad website.

roundcorners
I agree with Vin, you cannot use dark text on a dark background, it's totally illegible and inaccessible. The character encoding meta tag is an important element of each of your html documents and as such should be included, if it was included you'd see an error icon where you have used ©, it should be © or ©. Not a bad start though. What are the Scripts for?
