MrFish
Interesting, I've seen templates that float on the left side, in the center, but never on the right. It's aright, pretty plain
Ingolme
I'm getting a large horizontal scrollbar on my screen. What on Earth are these for? <img width="1200" height="5" alt="header" src="http://mechscapegorilla.com/images/bg_header_ca.jpg"/><img width="1200" height="40" alt="footer" src="http://mechscapegorilla.com/images/footer1.png"/> That's certain to make the site stretch on even 1280px screens. This <p> element should be an <h1> or <h2> element: <p class="welcome"> Welcome to the Combat Arms Sceptre Clan page </p> And you're using a bgcolor attribute on the body, which would be better off done in CSS. migroo
Thanks for the tip on the header. The two images are my header and footer. I am using them to space out my page little. How big is your screen? Sorry I did really think about it. I am building this on a 20" screen so it looks just fine for me. I brought it up on another screen and you are right it does make it stretch. What would you suggest? Thanks for the help!
Ingolme
Don't make anything have a fixed width larger than 960 pixels, and keep in mind the position, margins and padding when setting widths as well.
migroo
So I don't want my page to be wider than 960 pixels. Got it.
ProblemHelpPlease
What resolution screen are you working on? Bear in mind that your background will not be as visible on smaller screens, like the 10" netbook (1024x600 res) I am viewing it on.You might find http://browsersize.googlelabs.com/ useful. Synook
960 is interesting, because while it is smaller than 1024 is is also a highly mathematically abundant number, with the sum of its factors far exceeding itself.
migroo
Okay thanks guys! Lol I had forgotten about net books completely. Glad you reminded me. I am working with a resolution of 1680 by 1050 so I could see that looking really bad on low res screens like the ones net books have.
Ingolme
"Low res" and "netbook"?Am I old-fashioned for having a normal laptop at 1024x768 pixels? To me "low res" is 640x480.
Synook
1024 by 760 as a notebook resolution is slightly outdated (2005-ish?) - most 11.6" - 15.4" laptop screens are 1280 by 800 or 1366 by 768 now. Also standard aspect ratio in general is going out of fashion.Even newer mobile phones have 800 by 480 screens.
