Synook
Are you interested in network security, or just website security? For network security, there are of course the CISCO, A+, MS (and a few more) certifications, that are internationally respected and in high demand (at least, the more advanced ones are). For website security, I'm not so sure - it is more of a niche area.
skaterdav85
Does network security include security of servers? How do people typically train for those certifications?
Synook
Network security usually deals with the security of enterprise-class local area networks and the way they interact with the WAN. This includes things like the study of the way traffic is routed (e.g. the different networking protocols), IP, authentication, network monitoring and packet inspection, cryptography, etc., as well as physical security. The CISCO one is the CCSP (at the professional level, there is also CCNA Security at the associate level).Another example is CompTIA's Security+.Generally, you train for them by taking the prerequisite certifications (e.g. CCNA for the CCNA security).
