Using css to add text to a webpage

Please excuse the newbie question but I am a real newbie in css.I realize that one can use css to change the appearance of text in an html page. But can css be used to add blocks of text to a webpage?For instance can css be used to add "this is a sample text" to multiple html pages that link to that stylesheet?Thank you.

CSS can make text appear, but probably not the way you want. Look at the :before and :after sections here.What you probably want is something that works with JavaScript or a server side preprocessor like PHP.
