DMF
I really like the way you've done the horizontal nav bar on the w3schools.com site and I'm trying to do one like it. I can get the list of links arranged as I want, but I can't figure out the style that you've applied to topnav. (I'm still pretty new at this.) Especially, how do you get the button-like 3D effect? And what font is that? Any help appreciated.
eTianbun
the nav bar, could be a single tiny image (lets say, with the height of ~20px and 5px width). The image, can then be applied to the <ul> element, as the backgroud, then repeated horizontally.EXAMPLE: <ul style="background:url('nav.png') repeat-x"> Edited April 22, 2012 by eTianbun
Ingolme
The horizontal bar on the W3Schools site just has a small gradient as a background image which makes it pop out a little. The font is Verdana.
DMF
Verdana, huh? I've tried it before and never liked it enough to prefer it to Arial. This use I like, especially the descenders. What about the little break bars between buttons? Is that maybe a dark background showing through?
Ingolme
If you're referring to the vertical bars between "REFERENCES" and "EXAMPLES" they're just a vertical bar character: |
