Question/Assistance on Thumbnail Image Gallery

I'm working on designing a new eBay seller template and I got hitched up on the thumbnail image gallery. I'm trying to create one very similar to the example listed below. Could anyone point me in the right direction of what I need to learn/use in order to create this? I'm comfortable with html/css layout but I know very little about Javascript which I'm assuming most galleries like this use. Another impressive part about the markup I would like to replicate is reguarding the amount of images displayed based on how many are provided. It has markup for 20 images, <imgurl1><imgurl2><imgurl3> etc. but only displays how many that are provided to the listing, and leaves the other image areas blank. I suppose any assistance or direction with this would be of help. I have the template layout all finished except for this gallery, it is my only hurdle to finish it up! Galleries like that do use Javascript. Start by searching for Javascript galleries to find one you like, they should come with documentation and examples showing how to set it up.

How would you give Javascript the array of image names/paths so that it could build the table? Otherwise this looks very simple.
