mysqli

Recommended Posts

In the lasts months I have try to learn php. I really like w3 because explains the things in a very clear an direct way. But now I discover that I should not use mysql, that this is deprecated. More experienced people tell me that I should use mysqli I'm confused, is it true? why W3Schools does not talk about that? When will w3c update that information? Thank you NarcĂs

mysql has been deprecated for a while, you should either use mysqli or PDO. Why they don't update their site to say that, I don't know.

This means that we should not learn php in W3c? What is a good place for an absolute beginner? (I think php.net is not a good place to learn for a beginner)

Their general tutorials are mostly fine, just don't use the examples from the MySQL section. There are other places you can find that talk specifically about mysqli. http://www.databasej...i-extension.htmhttp://mattbango.com...php-and-mysqli/http://net.tutsplus....should-you-use/ Check the comments on those pages also, or do a Google search to find others. There are plenty of books about using PHP and MySQL that are much more comprehensive then any online tutorial.
