How to claim ownership of closed source code?. I have heared of a site which does that, but can not remember the name. Tried google with no luck, may be anyone can remind me about it. justsomeguy Posted November 15, 2013 Share Posted November 15, 2013 Any creative work, including software, is automatically copyrighted by the author. Laws for that might differ by country. You can assign a license to your software just by stating in the code and documentation that it is covered by a certain license, like the GPL or BSD license. Just make sure that you as the author follow the terms of the license (e.g., for the GPL, when you distribute the software you also need to distribute the license and source code).
