not directly no. Javascript is client side code, and does not directly interact with the database. A server-side language like PHP can. Typically applications make client side HTTP requests to a server side script which interacts with the database and returns a response to the client side application.

but if a php script retrived the data from database on a separate file, can javascript read that? if yes please guide....
