There is a ton of news to sort through, and it is mostly clickbait garbage. I've been filtering out the clickbait by editing the XML file in a separate program and importing to RSSOwl. But I'm wondering if there is a way to... 1) Simplify the coding by adding multiple attributes to an element(is that the word?) instead of copy/pasting the element over and over again for each attribute? Below, the "value=" part is a phrase that if found in the news title, RSSOwl will delete the article so I don't have to see it at all. For example the phrase "Analyst: CLSN record highs today, good buy?" Instead of filtering out just "Analyst" or "good buy" because they might show up in a news feed I want to read, can I somehow add a comma or symbol to filter that news out if they show in the same sentence? justsomeguy Posted October 18, 2017 Share Posted October 18, 2017 The program you're using might support some kind of syntax for specifying multiple values to search for in the attribute, but you would have to check its documentation to see what it expects. The second one you pasted is not valid XML, commas don't go inside an element attribute list. An attribute's value is a single string, but maybe the program you're using looks for that string in particular formats and can split it up or otherwise use it in different ways. I simply add a "&" for the filter value inside RSSOwl, or "&" in XML . Wow that was simple lol. That's not to say the particular program you're using doesn't define and use one (if so, it will be in the documentation), but there's not a specific "or" character. In programming languages you would use "|" to represent a bitwise OR operation (|| for boolean OR), but, again, the program you're using would have to look for and support that. In RSSOwl I select "contains any of" in the search parameters and use an "&" which again is "&" in the editor, to separate phrases. Then surround each phrase in their own quotes. Thanks for your help. Edit: FYI here's the code. RSSOwl changed the "id=" to a 2 instead of 11 so this works now.
