Drop down menu item disappears on smaller screens

I am using your standard Responsive Drop Down menu. I only made one change. I moved the drop down menu item to the most left position on the nav bar (and made it active). All is fine until the screen gets too small and the hamburger menu kicks in. Instead that the most left menu item is still visible, it disappears (also when you don’t make it active). Why? And how can I prevent it from disappearing?
