I am a new web developer and I am wondering how you guys organize your files including how you: file naming conventions, directory structure, store original media files? 

I am also wondering how your set of procedures go for developing a project: what computer(s) do you use? how do you transfer work between computers? how do you ensure your working with the correct version of your files?? 

And then when you publish the project: how do you manage the uploading and testing of your project on the web server? what do you do if you accidentally upload the wrong files to the server or you upload the right files to the wrong place?
