Splurd
Can it be done? Is there a way to get a excel file, and upload it to the server and let it automaticly add it to a database?
justsomeguy
What do you mean, you want to store an Excel file (or any file, for that matter) inside of a database field, so that you can get the file out and download it or something later? Splurd
Well lets say you have a database, I use microsoft access, and you can select to import data from an excel file. And put the data from the excel file into the database in a table.was wondering if it was possible to make a script such that, when a person uploads a excel file, it will automaticly covert it and add the data from the excel file into the database. justsomeguy
So you want to put the information in the spreadsheet inside the Access database. I've never looked into this, but I really doubt it will do that for you automatically, you will need to program it yourself. In order to read the Excel document at all, you might also need to buy a third-party component. You can read a plain-text CSV file just fine, but the XLS format is a binary format and Microsoft keeps it copyrighted, just like they do with all of their Office formats.
