Kompozer or Nvu? I remember a teacher once telling us to use one, and then I found that the other was more recent. Now I can't figure out which of these are better/more recent/recommended. In the interim, I use Notepad++. But I'd like to try them out, since I thought they had a few features Notepad doesn't have.

My favourite is Notepad++ & Dreamweaver,They're advanced, colour code the lines of code, have a lot of extensibility, and have NppFTP modules etc.

Is there a graphical editor that will identify what objects own the margins? In other words you are using float and things don't look right and you would like to know what is pushing on what.

Using a debugger in your browser like Firebug will let you see what's going on.

Hey, you are right -- Firebug does display margin regions. You have to hover over the HTML code element by element and watch the screen as each item is highlighted, but it does work.

I'm also trying Notepad++ but so far it just annoys me. I don't like the way it highlights all matching words when I select something, and I don't like the way it highlights things during searches, and I can't figure out how to disable the spellchecker. Also I don't see that it offers selected-block indent shifting.

One editior I apsolutely love, but didn't see listed, would be Aptana Studio 3, origanally a branch off of Eclipse but now it is a stand-alone version. It is also, free and so easy to use! CLICK HERE TO GET!

I think Brackets is the best of all, it's simple, clean and has some really neet features. Definitely worth checking out!
