Hi everyone, My name is Doug and I guess I'm what you might call "a Renaissance Man" -- musician (former f/t pro drummer/drum coach; still recording, performing and teaching, from time to time), published author/journalist/photographer/poet, songwriter, designer/craftsman, photographer, inventor, etc. -- and am currently attempting to teach myself both blues guitar and html. (And hoping against hope the latter goal's results come off looking at least a little bit better than the former one's sound!) I don't know enough about html yet to know if platform matters, but I'm alternating between Win and Mac platforms, at the moment (Mac newbie, as well), in hopes of eventually becoming proficient enough at this language to build and maintain the Website and auction listing templates I've envisioned. The PC world seems to have more options available to newbies (in the way of inexpensive editors like Nvu, anyway), but who knows where the road leads... As for the rest, I'm a married/family guy, 47 and living in the Boston area. (Hope that fits the bill, folks!) 'Til next time. . .

FINALLY! After registering about three days ago, I am here. I am from the beautiful island of St Lucia. I am here to learn as a beginner. I took a web design course some years ago but this dealt with just a quick introductory knowledge of HTML followed by learning the Dreamweaver software (and Frontpage to a lesser extent). In retrospect I realize that I have not learned much since to me, mastering the codes is what will make you a true web developer. I have always wanted to design sites as I have that bent toward graphics and (especially) photography. I came across W3c and saw the tutorials offered and that really gave me the shot I needed to really resume my forays in web development and design. Now I really am beginning to understand things I could not begin to understand during the course. hey everyone my names billy and Ive been coming on the forums now for a couple months but in the last few weeks its been a page that is left open in my browser at all times. Im 25 and stationed in germany in the US Army. Ive messed around with webpages for a while but never really tried to learn how to make them would always just copy and paste each part as I was making it which never worked. Im going to school for my associates in business and my concentration is in web design so im really cracking down and working on getting a jump start on all of that now.
