<hr /> in XHTML Basic

Dang it, I just discovered that it doesn't, so I'll answer my own question. I'm an idiot! Any suggestions on what to do instead?

Is the element <hr /> not supported in xhtml basic??? I changed my DTD to...
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML Basic 1.0//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml-basic/xhtml-basic10.dtd">

...from the suggested xhtml-mp DTD. Now, however, all my <hr />'s aren't working! Is there an equivalent to the <hr /> element that I can use? Am I just an idiot? Help!Supertrucker :)
