Thanks but i am still quite lost.

Ok making my forum newsletter and been trying to learn html and css and I have a problem. I put in a CSS horizontal menu and I am stuggling with every other link in my newsletter having the same background. So I guess I am asking is there a way to do a similar thing in html or a way to keep this from effecting the whole newsletter instead of just the menu bar?
