iam newbie in jquery sintaks

i try to add icon in the  textbox on login.. class textbox is below class form-group row

my script is

var header = '<span class="form-group row"><i class="fa fa-user"></i></span>';
$('[class="input-group-addon"]').prepend(header);

but the result is nothing
