  1. html & xhtml are quite a lot different from the languages you have exp in.I dont think of CSS as a template maker, simply because you can have all the same or different pages with completely different styles. So if 2 pages are the same and another 2 are different you only have to create 2 styles and save as... (hope that makes sense)Also there are a few of different ways to achive what you are after, so you will probably get advice for more than one way to go about displaying your page, plus you have to think about what works cross browser.i could go into great detail about this & that. But time is money, so i will supply this link for your reference.Hope this helps pmob.co.uk
Nice example. Could you also suggest a reasonably priced book to learn more about CSS? Maybe even one for XHTML. I thought I read that XHTML is not that much different to learn than HTML.I would just hate to take your example, and just change it, and call it a day. I would like to be able to do it myself as well. I mean, I look at the page source of any of the examples, and it makes since (the simpler layouts), but what is eluding me is how I use such code to make all my pages look like one of the examples but the center content is unique. And if I change any of the other content, it changes on all pages.EDIT: Alright, the more I play with this, the more I am learning about changing settings and making it work on all pages. Still want to be able to do stuff like this myself though. This is really nice. Way better than HTML tables or FRAMES.
  2. I am new at this and am not sure I know what you are talking about. I can fiddle with it tomorrow. What do you think about what I have done so far. Like I said. Their are no links yet but I am just starting my home page over. Here is the link to my new page www.littleflowergoldens.com/littleflowernew/index1.html and her is my old frames site ,www.littleflowergoldens.com, I am trying to change from frames to CSS
You are in the same boat as me, except I just bypassed frames, which I knew would bite my in the arse when I would want to change everything. So I am now trying to learn CSS. Think I will need to purchase a book. Tutorials are nice, but have yet to find one that I can do more than learn the attributes and stuff with.
  3. Well, I guess I should start out plain ans simply what I want to do, and I swear I ws told I I could anc should do it with CSS.Basically, I want to make a master template for my website, where if I change the master template, all the pages change repectively. Essentially, like making a website using fames, so say the left and right sides of the webpage are always the same no matter what page you go to, but the content in the middle is specific to that page/section. And then if I want to make changes to that template, every page will change. But I don't want to use frames. I find them frustrating and limiting. I was told by someone I should start using cascading style sheets. Is this do-able, and how hard would it be? I have experience in SQL, Java, and VB, so programming is not something new to me.
