You showed the code to use but how do we use it? I'm trying to find someone who has code that works or a tutorial that's easy to understand and so far I haven't found one.

Can you upload the final code because I'm trying to understand AJAX and it's not making any sense.

Yeah I'd like one too because the one on the w3schools site isn't very clear and doesn't show me how to user AJAX with PHP

I don't get it. I created the MySQL database and changed the info for the Mysql_connect and inserted a row into the table and nothing happens.

Yeah that's what I'm trying to do, the browser will request a page and PHP will create it from information from MySQL database.

My site is running on a Linux server that does not support IIS. I plan to use AJAX to make a shoutbox. If there's any more info you need just ask.
