I'm not sure if this is where i'm supposed to be posting this particular topic but i feel like my brain is jumping all over the place. I want to learn all aspects of web programming but right now i'm trying to focus on CSS, HTML, and PHP because I want to design wordpress templates. The problem i'm having is i know a little bit of everything so i'm a little confused on what i should be reading up on right now. As of now i have been reading up on CSS but i'm also trying to figure out how to put everything that i'm learning into practice. Do you guys just start making sites? Any tips for me? I am very open to suggestions and help. Thanks

W3Schools is a good place to learn html, css, and php but just knowing these won't get you much closer to making a WP theme. I like to think I'm very good at these 3 things but when I tried to make a wordpress theme I got confused how A was affecting D and why I needed to put B in H, etc. It's a different monster to master and there is literally entire sections on freelancing sites devoted to WP coders.I recommend reading through the W3Schools tutorials to get an idea of what each do and how they are related, then just jump right into making WP themes. The best way to learn is to look at others code and change it to fit your purposes.http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chro...888&bih=640http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chro...wordpress+themeI think most people start web building this way.

So did you just start building sites in order to practice?

Yes. I was actually 10 playing a browser-based MMO that allowed you to customize your guild page with html. I never heard of html prior to that but that is how I started personally. You won't build the best template ever your first try and it will probably take a while till you actually get something to come out the way you like. But just keep working at it and if you have questions you can ask here.
