You can usually add one straight off your Administration panel. If not, then I would suggest looking at your hosters' help page. If all else fails, then I guess you can just write to them asking for one.

Often, this procedure is outlined in their Knowledge Base which should walk you through how to use your hosting control panel to perform the task. Of course, this all only means anything if your provider allows you to do this.In any respect, a sub domain is often set up to point to a folder in your site. Now, there are many advanced forward thinking ways to outline the way to do this, but for most people, the wuick and easy way wins most of the time. That would be, pick or create a folder in your root domain, then create the correct C record for that folder using your hosting service control panel. Depening, again, on your hosting configuration, your subdomain will disguise the folder and substitute the subdomain for the url:dev.w3schools.com instead of www.w3schools.com/dev.So, review your hosting service services and then seek help from them as they will have more answers than anyone here.
