    Change your doc type to:<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">then set the containing cell 100% height:<td height="100%"> <table width="80%" height="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> </table></td>

    As for your first problem, you shoud give the containing cell a fixed height value, like this:<td height="100"> <table height="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> </table></td>
