Little Goat
well, AJAX (Advanced Javascript And Xml or something like that) would work.
justsomeguy
AJAX (Advanced Javascript And Xml or something like that)The first A is for Asynchronous. The XMLHTTPRequest object is behind AJAX, do a Google search for that, you should be able to use it.

notclive
As a security feature, you cannot call pages on 3rd-party domains. thats from this page http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/AJAX:...an_HTTP_Request
justsomeguy
OK then, maybe you can't use it. What's the point anyway, what are you trying to do?
notclive
well ive got a forum at aokforums.com/notclive.and I'm trying to use frames on my site so i have a bar at the top and the forum at the botom, this works see http://forum.notclive.co.uk to see what im trying to do. I was hoping to get the information off the main page of the forum to display statistics in the bar so i could use php to find "our users have posted XXXX posts" and echo that and also find out whos online, so that users could see these stats wherever they where on the forum. Also i was hoping to put a log in system on the site in the future and i could use the bar for that but thats not connected with what im trying to do now
justsomeguy
Well what's the problem, why can't you put a PHP page on the same server as the forum and do that? Also, since you are using a frameset, the information in the top frame will only be updated once, unless they manually refresh the frame or you include a link for them to refresh that one frame.
