  1. I don't think it's a font issue. I typically use standard fonts like Helvetica, Times, etc... Also, the text I'm not seeing has been converted to an image or a button. How do you embed the fonts? That might be helpful for other situations. Thanks again,Ted
  2. Here is a site that works fine in every browser, on both platforms, except for Netscape with Vista: http://www.pacificfabworks.comUsing the other browsers with Mac or PC you can see various lines of text and a menu in the upper right corner of the presentation. With Netscape/Vista you do see one line of text, but no other text or menu buttons. Only graphics. Even the lines you can't see were converted to a graphic using Flash. Thanks for any ideas/input.Ted Vieira
  3. I've been creating various elements of flash in my websites. I usually preview the sites using both Mac and PC, and using IE, Firefox, Safari and Netscape.Just recently I noticed that using Netscape on a PC (Vista), the text of the swf file doesn't show. It's not consistent. In some files it seems to show just as it should, however, in some files all text just doesn't show. It doesn't matter if the text has been coverted to a graphic or a button, or just left "as is". It's not concistent, and is confusing. Anyone else experiece this, and can you help me fix this? Thanks very much!Ted Vieira,
  4. I found the javascript code to work around IE's "active content" issue. It adds another step to your web design, but it will clear up the problem.Read the information and download the javascript files from here...http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/I've used this now, and will start working my way back through my customer's sites and start implementing these javascript files. BTW it's easy enough to do for someone who doesn't know javascript. just save the .js files on the site, and paste the code on your pages, modifying the flash file name and dimensions. Thanks for all your input,Ted Vieira
  5. Thanks, yeah, I've been looking at some pages today that have found a work-around for this. It is javascript, which I know enough to cut and paste, but there are some parameters that I'm not sure about so I'm still interested in a fix for this if anyone can explain it. Meanwhile, I'll just keep looking at other pages and trying to figure out the javascript. Thanks,Ted
  6. I will need to find the ways of getting around it. I do a fair amount of flash intros for my customer's sites that contain links to go into the site. Since IE is still the most widely used browser (unfortunately), I need to be able to have these intros without the annoying treatment that the file receives from IE.Any advice on this proceedure or where to look for instructions would be extremely appreciated. Thanks very much,Ted
  7. In IE on a PC, when ever I include a flash file in my html pages, it acts as something that needs to be clicked on.Whenever I load a page I've created that contains an .swf file, if I move the cursor over the file the entire file becomes outlined and acts as if I need to click on it to do something. And I get this brief pop-up message:"Click to activate and use this control."Here is an example of the way I'm including the flash into the html file... (taken from one of my sites: http://www.warrenwest.net/ )<!--url's used in the movie--><!--text used in the movie--><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" width="800" height="375" id="intro" align="middle"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /><param name="movie" value="intro.swf" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /><embed src="intro.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="800" height="375" name="intro" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /></object>This is code that my Flash MX2004 creates for me.Any ideas on how to get the file to quit acting this way? It's making it so that you have to click twice on a link in the flash file. Once to "activate the control" and then again to actually activate the link. Thanks very much,Ted
  8. Yeah, this seemed right to me too. In my Behaviors Panel, I selected the button, clicked on the "+", selected "web page" and typed in "#services" (I even tried "index.html#services"), and selected "_top" but it doesn't work. :-( Anything I might be doing wrong? Thanks again,Ted(I'm using flash mx 2004)
  9. Hi,I've got an html page with a flash header on it. In the flash header I've got buttons that I need to set up links to different locations on the same html page. In html I would use the <A HREF="#location" and <A NAME="location". How do I achieve this type of thing with the link in the flash header. Thanks!Ted Vieira
  10. I've set up my flash site than i'm working on so that when a navigation button is pushed, it loads the appropriate swf file. This works pretty seemless for me, but I've noticed on testing the site with slightly "slower" hi-speed connections, the time that it takes the next swf file to load is a bit too long, in order to have a real slick presentation. Is there an easy way to combine all of the fla files together to create one master swf file for the entire site?here's the site I'm referring to if this helps at all: http://www.tedvieira.com/flash/index.htmlThanks,Ted
  11. No, I'm not using a preloader. I'm still pretty new to Flash and I haven't looked into how to make a preloader yet. I just want to see if maybe this was a common problem - like maybe if if I forgot to do something obvious that I didn't know about yet.I've noticed if the page has loaded, yet still shows the Read: www.tedvieira.com message in the status bar, if I open a new window or click over to another window that's already open, when I click back to my flash site, the status bar shows "Done," even if I just click to the new window, then click back right away. Like I said, I just want to make sure I'm not doing anything that is causing problems. Thanks for taking a look.Ted
  12. I've created my first site completely done with Flash. To navigate from page to page I use the Loadmovie action for each button to load the swf file for that page. Everything seems to be working fine, but I notice that even after the swf file has loaded for the new "page," my status bar at the bottom of the browser says it's still transferring data from the website. Is this an indication that there is something wrong in my file? Like I said, everything seems to look right and functions correctly I'm just concerned that this could be a problem. Here's the site if you need to see it to know what I mean...http://www.TedVieira.com/flash/index.htmlThanks,Ted
  13. I've got scrolling text set up on my links page to scroll a movie clip of my links. In the movie clip I entered the text, which looks something like this:LINK 1blah blah blah blah blahLINK2blah blah blah blah... etc. Then I highlight the text that I want to be the link, LINK, 1 and in the properties panel I go down to the bottom where I enter the URL for the text link, then select _blank.This all looks fine in the movie clip, but then I return to scene 1 and test the movie. The links work great, but it seems to take out any spaces between the paragraphs so it looks more like...LINK 1blah blah blah blah blahLINK2blah blah blah blah... etc. What's going wrong here and is there a setting that I'm unaware of?Thanks!Ted
