SQL Scripting

I have been creating views from tables and writing reports off of the views. I have been asked if I know SQL Scripting. This company I spoke to apparently has an outside firm that writes scripts to generate reports. What is the technical definition of a script and what is the advantage to this way of generating reports vs. the way I have learned?

Chances are they mean PLSQL or TSQL (Oracle vs MSSQL). I have manipulated data for reports using both methods. Using views is alot easier and generally what views were made for but sometimes it is just no possible to get the data in the form you need so you have to turn to some scripting.
