mandaksk
As a security measure, documents on server are not allowed to be changed by viewers. Only FTP users are allowed to change it.If you really want to make people change the contents, ask them to download, change it and upload the file. Then you replace the existing file with the new one.
MrAdam
yeah .. im creating a web site for my boss, for his company. at the moment he has all his stock saved in an excel document - what i was hoping to do was to allow him to change the stock on the excel document.. which i could then write a script to apply the changes to the database. boen_robot
What you need is a way to convert the Excel into a DB format. After that, designing a form and creating a processor for it would be easy.
justsomeguy
Have him save the file as a CSV file, which will make it text. Then you can open it and parse the data yourself, and write the file back out if necessary.
