toxic27
I'm beginning to learn ASP (for logins/sign in forms) and it says I first have to download PWS. It explains how do download it (and where) for Windows XP and below but what about Windows Vista? How do I get a personal web server on Vista? Thanks
justsomeguy
I don't know if there is even a version of PWS for Vista. Some versions of Vista include IIS7, but I'm not sure which versions. If your version of Vista doesn't include IIS then you need to upgrade to another version of Vista in order to run ASP pages. If you have XP Professional then you can install IIS5 on it (I think it's 5).
toxic27
I searched on Google a bit more and found something saying to use PDShop. Is this anyway related to a PWS or IIS? Thanks
justsomeguy
I've never heard of PDShop. IIS is the regular MS web server that runs on Windows, PWS is a scaled-down version that Windows 98 and ME and possibly XP home had. XP Pro, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Vista all use IIS. toxic27
Can anyone give me the download link to IIS? I searched on Google (and Microsoft.com) but all the downloads weren't compatible with Vista
justsomeguy
IIS is included on the Windows CD. If you go to the Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs, then Add/Remove Windows Components (on XP, I haven't done it on Vista) you can browse programs to install from the CD.
