Special characters in CSV

Thanks to the help of few people in this forum I could overcome issues with display of special characters. This is great. But how do you get data from an Excel spreadsheet into database that holds those characters? Each time I do a 'save as CSV' the special characters display funny. Entering data directly into db displays well in website etc, but I hope I do not have to enter all the data again... Is there any other way to import the data?Son
