Fresh Off A Bunch of Tutorials but Still Having Trouble, Please Help

Hi everyone, I've been thru probably every PHP tutorial on W3Schools but still have a LOT to learn. For Example; I'm working on tweaking a PHP Classifieds script and I'm having one problem in specific. If I add a { after the else keyword on line 49 of the attached script it kills the whole page. If anyone could please take a look at this and offer any suggestions, I'd be most appreciative as I've been spinning wheels on this for hours. Here's the code and I thank you all in advance!!
