Jack McKalling
This has bothered me for a long time now. I've read the media tutorial, but come up with a cross-browser sollution that is not valid Xhtml..I want both, lol <object width="200" height="100" classid="clsid:player_version_in_here" codebase="something_in_here"><param name="src" value="movie.ext"><param name="autoplay" value="true"><param name="controller" value="true"><embed src="movie.ext" width="200" height="100" autoplay="true" controller="true" pluginspage="something_in_here"></embed></object> Can anyone help me getting a crossbrowser way, that is also valid xhtml? While this one isn't, <embed> is to support older browsers that don't support <object>, but <embed> itself is deprecated.. MikeFloutier
I'm also very interested in this topic as one of the main features of our site is the ability to stream audio. So far I have got it to work in IE and Firefox but I'd like it to work with Safari and possibly Opera as well. So, basically, if anyone knows how to do it, I'd be obliged.ThanksMike
boen_robot
Do you at least know an <object> that would work only in FF or Opera? You can use IE's conditional comments to hide the inner objects from it, thus allowing it to see only the object it could handle.
Jack McKalling
I don't have those browsers anyway, therefor I ask this in the first place, to know how I can do those objects :)I heard of the conditional comments (and seen them) but they are IE only, would they validate? justsomeguy
They validate because they are ignored as comments.
Jack McKalling
Lol, I should have known. But do you know something then? I don't know anything about an object that only works in FF or Opera?
