Jedlag
Thanks. Wouldn't I need to assign variables to the text fields, externally from html, and then run the script in something like jsDebugWin to find the cmd interpreter?
aspnetguy
I really don't know what you are talking about but if you tell me what you are trying to do (be specific) I can help you out.
Jedlag
I'm trying to figure out a way to create an interface so I can automate the task of filling out text fields (company URL, name, address, email, etc.) in a application form.
aspnetguy
Sort of like how a browser does auto complete? You could store those values in cookies then everytime the form is opened you can check for the cookies and use the values.
Jedlag
Sort of. What I plan to create is a database composed of information on over a hundred companies (which I haven't gotten to yet as I will need to investigate the many different formats to save it in), then I want something like Javascript to go through the DB and input that data into the application form and then submit that form to get the results which would be displayed on screen.Do you think your suggestion would work for that? aspnetguy
you can't intereact with a database with javascript. You need a server side language for that.
Jedlag
Something like PHP or Ajax?
aspnetguy
Something like PHP or Ajax?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> yes.PHP or ASP or ASP.Net or whatever.AJAX is not a language per say. It is a combonation of languages. It is JavaScript, XML, and a Server Side language. The XML object lets the JavaScript (client side) talk to the PHP(server side). Jedlag
I understand. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my inqueries. It looks like I have a lot of reading to do before I take on interfacing in the manner I outlined.
