python f-strings

I am missing the explanation for the f-strings in python 3.6+. I am learning python and found such a expression in the example for the __str__() Function. I was curious how that works but din't find  an explanation. An external investigation cleared the fog an I found that it is not mentioned in string.format section where it belongs to.
