position: absolute; in IE doesn't work?

hey, putting the finishing touches on this site for my friend of mine and noticed that in some versions of IE, the footer i have gets messed up on the main page. it comes up above the nav buttons unlike it's supposed to be (if you see it in firefox for instance).i'm using positon:absolute; for it...is this the source? is there any way to fix this problem so the footer stays at the BOTTOM of the page in every browser? see the page here: the site
