vchris
I've been in the business for close to 10 years and re-designed the site a few times. I'd like to know as a perspective client what do you think of my site? (where/how things are places, pages, text) http://vchrisstudio.com/ Thanks
davej
It looks nice but there is nothing there to get your attention, like maybe "...if you are considering hiring my services here is a list of questions you should be thinking about..."

(where/how things are places, pages, text) http://vchrisstudio.com/ Thanks its a nice template very unique, straight forward, appealing, etc. only problem i had was finding the menu, which was located at the bottom of the page, and after i was pretty much finish looking through the website i notice the button at the top of the page, besides that i think it was a well planned website

(where/how things are places, pages, text) http://vchrisstudio.com/ Thanks Personally, It looks too much like a template that you've edited, maybe if you have less generic features and more abnormal features, it will increase revenue and show possible features that are exclusive to you, it's only my opinion. Day
i dont think it matter how tall the header is for a sticky footer It absolutely matters... Your telling me I could have a 500px high sticky header and it wouldn't matter? After a certain point the header becomes intrusive. Every design decision should contribute to the experience. At this height, I think it hurts the experience. The header looks good when the page loads, it is just when I start scrolling that it seems too tall. Maybe you can just have the height shrink as you scroll until it reaches a min-height and then becomes a sticky header.

vchris
You're probably right about the header size once the scrolling has begun especially on a mobile device, I think it should be shrunken. I'm in the the process of changing the layout again. I'm thinking of switching to a one page layout with a bit less text. I've decided to focus on microsites, basically local small business and individuals websites. I'm a one man team so I can't created large time intensive web applications and websites, it'll take me months. I hate creating websites for myself, I'm a tough client. I'm thinking creating website packages is better for business since clients can have an idea of how much it will cost them all included. The only thing I'm having trouble with is getting enough clients. Maybe a blog on newbie stuff would help my Google ranking.

Jason_1978
Your site looks nice and clean but appears visually to look like a template. I think it needs to be visually creative. It needs some bells and whistles to showcase what you can do. Grab their attention. I am new to modern web design (after a 12 year break) but I can tell you this: people's attention is captured first visually with the bells and whistles and then kept through content, ability to navigate easily, etc which are the high points of your site. But what grabs them and stops them from moving on to the next site the moment they get to your site? What sets your site appart from others that visually look like templates? I believe that is an important question to ask yourself.
