Oh sorry, I though it only conserned a spam topic not a community category.I must say that my suggestion is a bit bigger, incorporating both such forums as General, computers, media or similar.
-
Have you ever considered adding a community section to this forum? I know, I know most people say something like "This forum was created for disussing _____, not general". Although a community section will strenghten the community tenfolds. Trust me. Although More activiy -> bigger forum -> more things to be attracted towards -> more visits -> more clicks on ads(?)

I belive you can give reputation as a comment, but not give points if that option is used.Although registrating-to-abuse-rep-system is one possibility.

There is no way that it can increase spamming as it is not build on post count. It is users giving reputation to users. There is even a feature that restricts reputation/day and minimum post count for giving reputation.

by editing your initial post and going "Click here to manage this topic's poll"

How about just telling them to click "Save As" or simple compress the file?- Moridin

You can easily make a very basic graident using Microsoft Word and Paint. If you have about 600 USD you can buy Photoshop. If you want a free image editor, I would like to suggest Paint.NETDownloadGradient TutorialIf you do not want to make it for yourself, please post specifications on colors, size etc. and I will make one for you.- Moridin

I think that reputation will increase the willingness to help on some level. After all "spam help" gets negative reputation. It is like a permanent, vieable record of the actions of members.

The article modification from invisionize has categories. I mean removing the format that is in a topic. Think a normal forum topic vs. a blog entry :)I've put a link to an example of an article section in my signature.

I cannot emphasize enough that my username is Moridin, not "Mordon, "Moridine", "Moridian" or any other version of it. This happens to me a lot.A forum with user written articles is one options, although a collection of non-topic articles are more professional and accesible in my opinion.

Although a wiki requires a lot of managment from the staff. If it is an article section, the only thing that would need to be done is approve/deny.

I suppose you can use some variant of the if-else javascript script. Customize to fit your needs.- Moridin

I would highy advice you not to use the mailto: link as bots spider websites to collect email addresses for their spam/virus mailing lists. Do something like this: After all, most people use external email service either way, so a clickable link is just in the way.- Moridin

My advice to you would be not to use frames at all. You can use rather simple CSS to create the requires effect.- Moridin

embed is not valid XHTML. Above is an example.

Yes, there is. You could use the PHP include or require function.- Moridin

To some extent, yes.Although there are so much more possible ways to implement it. They could deal with tips & Tricks and howto's not covered in the W3S tutorials. In the end, it would probably drive more traffic to W3S

How to give a generic font-family: Set the background color for the headings to the same color as the background color for that section.- Moridin

There is a specific modification for IPB 2.x.x that allows people to submit articles (not the blog feature that can be bought together with the IPB 2.x.x).
