hp1
Hi all,Been dabbling with Flat Files. Managed to get user entered data saved and displayed in a table. The data file is password protected to stop prying eyes just browsing to it.Howver I dont knwo enough PHP to be able to perform sorts and searches. I am trying to create a database to save appointments and contact details for a hairdresser website I built for a friend.I have stumbled across of ready made FFDBs but I'm struggling to understand how to install them and integrate them in my existing site. I was hoping someone might know of one that is designed for novices like myself and have a good set of instructions to assist in installation.Cheers
Synook
I would suggest a relational system such as MySQL - they are also easy to use and far more powerful than flat-file systems, and many hosts come with MySQL already installed.
justsomeguy
The only database I've ever come across that was designed for novices is Access, and we all know how good Access is. Things that are designed for novices are typically not things you would want to actually use.
