voodoochicken
hi, i am trying to migrate from an old scripting to a new one. the new scripting is done based on the old one and uses quite a lot of the old code (not all was changed), and table names and stuff are in big part as the ones used until now. i find easier to rename the current table(s) and make a script to copy from the old one(s) to the new tables, rather than create new tables with new names and search on all scripts and stuff to change names (besides of being more secure, so i dont overlook a name that should be changed). is there any way to rename a table? (i have as option 2: backup old table into new one, drop old table and re-create it with new changes, restore from backup. it seems more complicated tough)
justsomeguy
You can use ALTER TABLE to rename a table:http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/alter-table.html
