tvbtoday
Hi.I want to link an image, but instead linking the entire image (because the size is too big), I only want a portion of the image to be linked. However, when i actually click on the link, i want the entire image to show. how can i do that?in case you don't know what i mean, here is an example of a site that has it:http://tkn-portrait.net/tvb/art.htmlThanks! real_illusions
They've probably made thumbs specifically like that, and then link to the larger image.I imagine theres no 'secret script' for this..
jeffman
I'm not sure, but I think you're looking at a pretty sophisticated Flash or maybe javascript program. You could duplicate some of the effect just by using your image editor to crop your main image into a smaller "thumbnail" image; save it as a separate image. Then use it as a link to the larger image.Exactly how you want to display the larger image is another question. As I said, the program you like so much is sophisticated, so it's going to take a long time to plan and write, so you might settle for something simpler. jlhaslip
http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox/ Look here for the script you need. It is all very well documented, and as DD says in his first reply, the small image is likely a cropped portion of the big one.
Synook
You can see that on the example site by right clicking -> view picture that they either manually cropped the image or used a server-side language plus URL rewriting (unlikely) to create their thumbnails.
