Ingolme
Because those applications make pages wrong and don't always look right in all browsers. People who make templates for content management systems need to know HTML. HTML is also crucial for search engine optimization. Knowing HTML is the first step in web development, after learning HTML, CSS, Javascript and a server-side language you will be ready to develop applications yourself.

DarkxPunk
Almost all cms have templates, joomla, Wordpress, the list goes on. It's to make the sites look pretty, but sadly they sometimes lack compatibility making sites look crude and unprofessional. Personally I hate cms(s).Now for memorization, it will come with time. Try and remember them all. The more you use them, the quicker you will remember. But you always got w3schools here to help when your memory falters. Saggiehaim
knowing the basic is the first step of succeeding in something.as you can't jump to deep water without knowing to swim.think about you build a building, without good basics the building will never be strong and good. HTML is the easiest part in web developing but yet the most important..
