DizzyDan
Currently I am using notepad++ to edit files and FileZilla to upload them. I just want to make sure that my flipping between windows, folders, the editor, ftp client and the browser to see my changes, is the best solution out there. thescientist
depends on your setup. some IDEs may provide support for adding FTP sites right into the GUI. for those who leverage Continuous Integration / Delivery / Deployment, a lot of those steps are automated and handled whenever commits are made to the repo, so really it's just IDE on one screen, browser on an external monitor screen, and a terminal floating around. Ingolme
You shouldn't need the FTP client while developing. Test the page on your computer and only upload it once it's finished.
davej
You could look at... http://www.uniformserver.com/ Dreamweaver has an integrated upload and file synchonization and I found it to very annoying. I'd rather manually ftp my uploads with something like Fireftp.

davej
Yes, Dreamweaver is an absurd product.
thescientist
if it didn't generate such garbage code, it could be a somewhat useful IDE, but no. everything I've ever seen produced by that app is just junk.
justsomeguy
Case in point: go to File -> New -> PHP file. What do you get? An HTML template. If you want a real laugh, look up how to force all FTP transfers to binary mode instead of ASCII.
