Simple Scroll/Pagination

I have not done anything with php, ajax or databases before and I want to find a simple way to implement a dynamically loading page or pagination to the (small) news page on my site. Has anyone got any tutorials for the simplest method to achieve this? Is there a way to do it without php?

No, all I have at the moment is a simple static page with a list of news items that is going to keep getting longer with updates. I was wondering if there is a method for loading parts of the page at a time with javascript or else a tutorial that explains the whole process of what I would need to do with php etc.

If the elements on your page follow a pattern for each news item then you should be able to use Javascript to hide everything except a certain set of them. It looks like someone linked to a jQuery plugin for that here:http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6060775/pagination-with-javascript
